Peter Café Sport, an original rally to celebrate the centenary

The Peter Café Sport is the bistro where sailors from all over the world come to get their fill after their long journey to the Azores. Located in the port of Horta, it celebrates its centenary in 2018. The opportunity to organize a very original rally.

A Café Sport not to be missed

The Ocean Cruising Club and the Peter Café Sport are organizing a "Water Rally" to celebrate the centenary of the Peter Café Sport. This institution in the Azores was founded in 1918.

The Café Peter Sport is the meeting place for sailors in Horta. An institution where you can meet, often on the way back from the transat, to drink a good cold beer after many days at sea. Decorated with flags from all over the world, donated by passing ships, the room is not large, but really warm. A place not to be missed by sailors from all countries. This year 2018, this café-restaurant will celebrate its 100th anniversary and is organising a truly atypical rally for the occasion.

A rally "upside down"

This offshore navigation will be really original. Indeed, participants can leave on any date, from any port located more than 500 miles from Horta. There is only one objective: to cross the finish line in Horta on the afternoon of 18 June without having made any stopovers.

It will be fun to see these sails appearing on the horizon from all sides to cross the finish line in the same momentum. With the only objective: to party.

Activities are then planned ashore during the week of 18 to 23 June: welcome party, barbecue, whale-watching outings, guided tours of the islands of Faial and Pico, trekking on the Pico volcano, bicycle descent of the Faial volcano and an awards ceremony followed by dinner.

You can get information about this rally from the Peter Café sport or by mail at AzoresRally2018[at]oceancruisingclub.org.
