A hotel room 4 meters below the Indian Ocean

The Manta Resort, a hotel located on the island of Pemba, in the Zanzibar archipelago, recently opened lunderwater room, the first underwater room in Africa, 4 meters below the surface of the Indian Ocean.

Designed by a Swedish designer, the underwater room should be a delight for divers. Located in the particularly fishy waters of the Zanzibar archipelago, the underwater room was directly inspired by the Utter Inn, a floating hotel located in Lake Mälaren in Sweden.

A room built on three levels

If there are already underwater chambers throughout the world, notably in Sweden, the Maldives or Dubai, it is the first of its kind in Africa. Located 250 m from the beach, the underwater room is built on three levels. The lower floor, where the bed is placed, is completely submerged. 4 metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean, the room has many windows and offers a spectacular view of the underwater environment, its schools of colourful fish and its reefs. The island of Pemba is famous for its turquoise water and the richness of its seabed.

The two upper floors are located above the surface and accommodate the bathroom, a relaxation area, as well as an ideal terrace to refine your tan or admire the stars.

900 to $1,500 per night

Sleeping among fish will still cost between $900 per night for one person and $1,500 per night for two people.
