Kormaran, the boat of the future?

The Austrian company Kormaran, which has been working for several years on a prototype of a transformable boat of the future, has just finalized its concept of a modular boat, the Kormaran, which can take on six different functions.

A boat that can be transformed at will

The Kormaran is intended to be revolutionary in the world of boating. Created by an Austrian company and unveiled in June, this prototype can take several forms, depending on the need. Its modular arms allow it to become a monohull, a catamaran, a trimaran, a speedboat, a hydrofoil (a fast vessel whose hull rises from the water at high speed) or even a floating deck with a large sunbathing area, thanks to retractable mechanisms and hydrofoils. The mechanism of the Kormaran is based on a system of titanium hydraulic cylinders that support the two lateral floats, which can join or separate, to give the boat a different mode of operation. It is 7 meters long and weighs 1.5 tons.

A futuristic toy with advanced technology

An exterior design built on a gray carbon fiber hull and blue neon lights combined with a leather and wood interior, gives the Kormaran a look between futurism and modernity. With a maximum speed of 40 knots (74 km/h), this boat will remain stable thanks to its floats which will allow it to combine agility and stability, like a catamaran. On the other hand, its carbon fiber structure allows it to be light and resistant and is directly inspired by automotive and aeronautical technologies.

For the moment, the marketing date is not announced since Kormaran is waiting for official accreditations. The same goes for the price which is already exorbitantâeuros¦ So who is this little car for, a navigation enthusiast or a technology enthusiast? I let you think about itâeuros¦
