A new boat at J Composites

At J Composites, the yard is in turmoil as a new sailboat replaces the J/109 E.

A new boat at the junction of the J/122 E and the J/97 E

The J/112 E is the latest addition to the "E" series of multi-purpose racing-cruising yachts from J Composites. The "E" series describes boats imbued with two important values, Elegance and Evolution.

"With the success of the J/122E and the J/97E, it was logical for J Composites to launch an intermediate yacht between these two boats. We are therefore announcing the upcoming arrival of the J112E. We estimate to release a first unit in spring. Currently, we are working on the tooling. This boat will be built only by J Composites. It will be a boat faithful to the principles of J while being resolutely modern and elegant says Didier Le Moal, General Manager of J Composites.

This 36-footer, ideal for cruising as well as for a small crew, is built to withstand rough weather conditions. It is equipped with two spacious cabins, one forward and one aft, and an ergonomic and comfortable cockpit. Its interior design follows the codes of the " line, with natural light at the center of the layout and varnished walnut covering in the various spaces. In addition to a beautiful seaworthiness, J Composites has sought to produce a sailboat of great comfort, based also on the experience of the owners. This is how the word comfort was combined with other ideas, taken into account by the shipyard. Here, the equipment is created to provide a stress-free navigation: visibility is perfect from the helm, control of the sails is easy with a reduced crew, the movement of the boat is smooth - limiting sea sickness, numerous supports for the feet or hands are provided ensuring greater safety and the maneuverability allows to dock or take an anchorage easily.

The J/112 E, designed to provide optimal navigation

Created in the tradition of its sisterships, the J/112 E is an excellent upwind boat. Its V-shaped bow provides greater directional stability and better wave handling. The freeboard forward and the raised gunwale help limit spray on deck. Its long waterline, combined with a low vertical center of gravity, offers a smoother, more seaworthy ride, similar to a 40-footer.

The J/112E is a medium displacement boat, with a slender sail plan with no overlap. This performance configuration offers enough power in light air (when most other boats are motoring), with the ability to easily reduce when the wind picks up. J's are known to be good boats under mainsail alone, jib alone and in all mainsail/jib configurations. The J/112E is no exception. All you need is a mainsail and 105% jib to sail easily and efficiently in winds between 5 and 25 knots. For downwind fun with minimal crew and effort, the asymmetric spinnaker can be deployed from the retractable carbon bowsprit.

The cockpit at the heart of creation

J Composites realized that sailors spend more time in the cockpit than anywhere else on the boat. The helmsman can thus choose multiple positions and sail for several hours without tiring, but also sit outside thanks to the large steering wheel. On the J/112E, the mainsail and jib tips are easily accessible. The helmsman can also trim the sails upwind without leaving the helm or disturbing the crew.

A vessel designed to provide maximum safety

For added safety on deck, the J/112E features a double lifeline, stainless steel handrails, full-length integral cargo rails, a pad for hanging a safety harness near the companionway, and a powerful non-slip deck liner for confidently standing at all lodge angles. A lightweight, quickly deployable safety ladder is additionally mounted on the open, easy-to-access rear skirt. The liferaft storage is nearby, in one of the easy access cockpit lockers. For added cruising comfort, the J/112E offers an optional large sprayhood for the companionway, a folding bimini for the helmsman, and cushions for the cockpit seats. On rare occasions, when an auxiliary propulsion system is needed, the Volvo 30HP diesel engine with a two-bladed folding propeller and saildrive transmission can take the J/112E to speeds of over 7 knots.
