The Hermione has found the port of Rochefort

On Sunday evening, the Hermione passed through the lock of the commercial port of Rochefort before returning to her berth. This marks the end of the 8 weeks of sea trials, which at times proved to be quite strenuous.

Contrary to her first sea trip on 8 September, which had attracted crowds, the Hermione returned to her home port under the eyes of a few hundred people who had gathered along the estuary. The frigate will thus remain for a few days in the commercial port of Rochefort before returning to her home port on 22 November in the form of a Napoleon III refit.

Sea trials conclusive

These two months of sea trials allowed the boat to be confronted with a variety of sailing conditions. The crew was also well served, as they even had to face heavy weather. These tests also revealed the frigate's negative operating points, and both engines revealed defects that forced the crew to be extremely careful in harsh conditions. However, the 80 crew members were able to turn on the replica of the La Fayette frigate and learn how to handle the boat.

Visits by reservation

From 13 November onwards, guided tours will be organised until 21 November in the commercial port of Rochefort, subject to reservation. From 22 November, the Hermione will return to her home port a few hundred metres away. Visits will again be possible every day until mid-March, from 10.00 to 12.30 and from 14.00 to 18.00 (except on 25 December and 1 January) er january).
