Spectacular, 77 people surf a tidal bore in Gironde

77 people gathered on the Gironde tidal bore, at the confluence of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers for a surf, paddle and kayak run

A tidal bore is a rare and spectacular phenomenon that occurs in about sixty places in the world. This phenomenon of rising water in a river or estuary is caused by the rising tide during high tides. Concretely, it consists of a wave, more or less high, which goes up the river and whose power varies according to the height of the tide, the flow of the river at that time and the topography.

The period of great tide which took place from February 19 to 22, 2015 last undoubtedly created this tidal bore. Snow sports enthusiasts are very fond of these events and they have made a date to surf these waves together. They were 77 in stand-up paddle, surf or kayak, filmed by a drone. The stage is spectacular!
