Nautitech made its mark on the multihull world with the Open 40. A catamaran that uses the outside cockpit as a saloon, eliminating the separation between saloon and cockpit. Inside becomes outside and vice versa.
At the Salon du Multicoque, Nautitech president Bruno Voisard announced the February 2016 launch of the Nautitech Open 46. The big brother of the 40. This catamaran takes up the codes of its little brother and will be available in two versions. The 462 will have 2 helm stations on each hull, while the 461 will have a single helm station on the fly. This fly will then be complemented by a large comfort area behind the helm.
Marc Lombard, the boat's architect, has also designed a forward sun deck, as on other competitor models. It seems that this layout is so popular with users that it can be found on many new models.
Nautitech boats are still assembled in Rochefort (17), but the shipyard has been acquired by the German Bavaria group and is now marketed under the Bavaria Catamarans brand. We had the opportunity to see the first models exhibited at the Salon du Multicoque, whose joinery (fittings, furniture) came from the German factory. We found nothing to complain about in terms of finish and design. Quite the contrary...
Without being able to announce a release date today, the company is already announcing an engine version of its Open 46. To be continued...
