Images on board during the capsizing of the Gunboat G4

Experience the capsizing of the Gunboat G4 hydrofoil from an onboard camera. Impressive images that show that mastering flight is still a balancing act.

With the launch of the Gunboat G4 and the first tests in St Martin (West Indies), this American shipyard proved that it was possible to fly a "habitable" 40-foot catamaran.

In spite of an initial video that tries to show the comfort of the boat, representing crew members sharing a bottle of rosé, the images while sailing clearly show that at 30 knots of speed, life on board is much less serene than at anchor. But the facts are there: this shipyard is the first to offer a cruising sailboat on foil.

Alas, in spite of very good conditions the images of the capsizing of the same boat we showed you also show that this kind of balance remains precarious, reserved for an experienced crew. The Gunboat G4 has indeed capsized...

Here we are now with new images, the same capsizing seen from the inside, made by an onboard camera. We're happy to see the boat finally straightened out (like a simple sports catamaran, which says a lot about her weight!).

Let's hope that this dirty moment won't cool down the construction site and that we'll soon see some little brothers of this beautiful cruiser-racer ...
