Hanging his pulley

When choosing a pulley, you must know where it is attached and choose the most appropriate solution. Because catalogues offer many solutions.

Manufacturers offer several types of fasteners:

Ring

This is the basic fixation. A shackle or transfilage can then be added. Remember that the pulley does not rotate on its ring (no swivel).

Manila on swivel

A shackle hooks the pulley. It is installed on a swivel that gives 360° freedom to the pulley. Often, manufacturers propose a solution to block or not this rotation.

Screed

A stainless steel pin held by a pin fixes the pulley. To be used for pulleys that are not often dismantled (mast foot for example).

Snap hook

Unlike the screed, a pulley equipped with carabiner will be used to facilitate installation. It is useful to place a barber in different places according to the pace for example. Or simply to move the mainsail hoist that gets in the way at aperitif time in the cockpit!

Transfilage

Ropes such as Dyneema are now stronger than steel. They are often used to fix the pulleys on the deck.
