Maxus 24 EVO to modernize a flagship model

The Polish shipyard Maxus is introducing a series of new products. After the highly successful Maxus 26 presented at the 2014 Paris Boat Show and newly nominated as "European Boat 2015", Maxus announces the launch of the Maxus 24 EVO.

The aim is to replace the current Maxsus 24 launched in 2008. This new Maxsus is called EVO for Evolution. But underneath this term lies a genuine new model, completely redesigned from hull to deck.

But there's no question of revolutionising genres, a Maxsus is still a Maxsus. Namely a transportable, family sailing boat, with beautiful living volumes. Compared to 245, the 24 EVO has a more modern design and a hull that gains a few centimetres in length. It is distinguished by a strongly pronounced chine (like that of the 26) running all along the plating.

This chine should promote stiffness in the canvas, one of the weaknesses of the current 24. As for the appendages, the 24 EVO will be available in 3 versions as is now the case on all Maxsus models: keelboat, lifting keel and twin keel. The twin-beam model developed with Catway, the importer for France, remains a demand specific to the French market. However, this version is a good alternative to reduce the draft without penalizing the stiffness of the canvas, as is the case with the dinghy version.

In terms of layout, the 24 EVO will be derived from what we were able to discover on the 26, while correcting the defects of the "old" 24. The layout will be the same as his big brother's, only narrower. Thus the galley will be moved forward into the saloon, to free it from the aft cabin and install it in a space where the headroom is at its maximum. But moving the galley forward reduces the length of the port bunk, which will only accommodate children to sleep (but remains a nice saloon bench seat). With this layout, the 24 EVO retains a nice habitability with 5 real beds, a square kitchen area and an independent toilet.

A unit to consider cruising with the possibility to change navigation area with this transportable model.

Given the success of the Maxsus 26 - already 40 units produced in less than a year, 10 of which have been sold in France - let's bet that the 24 EVO will follow the same path. At present, the shapes of the master parts are being finished on site before the moulds are made. Worldwide presentation of the boat at the next Nautic in Paris in December 2015.
