Tricat 25, the evolution of a well-born trimaran

The Tricat 25 is back in business. This flagship of the shipyard, which had its hours of glory sailing around all the islands of France for reports published in the press, is now available in Evolution version.

In this new Evolution version, the central hull of the Tricat 25 remains unchanged. What has changed is the installation of new linkage arms and floats. While the Tricat 25 Évolution remains foldable, the arms are no longer simple aluminum tubes, but rounded carbon arms. As a result, the boat is more rigid, and the arms are higher up on the water, postponing the moment when the waves hit them. The rudder and daggerboards are also now made of carbon.

The floats have also been lengthened by 60 cm (mainly at the bow). As a result, the boat is even better able to support the canvas, and the burying, already rare in the previous version, has been pushed back even further. The stems of the floats feature a modern design.

A few modifications have also been made to this well-born trimaran, more to do with comfort than performance. The rear of the cockpit, where a hatch used to open to stow gear, has been raised. This prevents water from penetrating too easily into the cockpit, particularly during tacking maneuvers when the trimaran is going astern.

Also noteworthy are the crew cabins, which encircle the interior of the cabin. Originally made of canvas, they are now made of plywood.

The Tricat 25 is the largest model in the range. It's a trimaran that can be folded both on the water and on the trailer, using articulated linking arms. Once folded, it can be transported on the road. Built in Vannes in vacuum infusion, this yacht is ideal for fast 4-person cruising. Its large cockpit can accommodate 6 people, and the advantage of multihulls is that the trampoline surfaces on each side can be used for both sailing and anchoring.
