Neel 65, an XXL cruise trimaran

Discovering a 20 m sail by sea is much more instructive than boarding it from a dock. This is what the Neel shipyard offers us during a privileged visit of the Neel 65 off Cannes.

By increasing in size, from 45 feet to 65 feet, the Neel has gained in elegance and refines its silhouette. Discover it on the water, at anchor, and you can see it. This 20m trimaran remains atypical in the multihull landscape. It is quite simply the only cruise trimaran.

The tour begins with a boarding on the teak rear deck of the central hull. The transom includes two real stairs. This transom rises up to reveal an annex room in which a 4.20 m semi-rigid is housed. Other toys such as paddles or kayaks can be accommodated in the floats with 3.50 m chests on each side.

Outside, life on board will be divided between the aft platform with its dining area near the kitchen and the fly, on the deckhouse, with a huge sunbathing area and a table in addition to the proximity of the steering station and manoeuvres.

From up there, the skipper has two steering wheels to maintain a view on each side. All the sailboat's manoeuvres are carried out on the three winches in the centre. Note the search for performance under sail, such as the choice of carbon candlesticks and folding cleats so that the ropes do not lock.

Access to the cabins is via the central hull. Just at the entrance is the U-shaped kitchen separated by a bar. This complex is on the same level as the cockpit and the forward station which hosts the saloon. This living room is surprising with a panoramic view to the front. The chart table in the centre separates two areas that can be arranged differently at the owner's discretion. Either in two dining areas, or with a desk and a TV area for example.

Overlooking the floats are two huge double cabins with their own individual toilet. The bed is installed in the centre of the cabin with a direct view of the ocean. An unusual point of view on a boat, even on a multihull, because the window goes down to bed level.

Like the super-yachts, this trimaran has two distinct floors. The top with the living area (kitchen, living room) and two cabins called "owner". Underneath other spaces. Thus each of the two floats houses a double cabin with a toilet, while the front tip of the central hull also has another guest cabin. With the cabin under the galley - but given its absence of a sightglass, it will be reserved for the crew - this trimaran has no less than 6 double cabins, each with a 160 cm wide bed. A record for a unit of this size!

While the Neel 45 made its remarkable appearance on the cruise multihull market 4 years ago, the rochelais shipyard has already announced the launch of the n°15. A nice progression that does not stop with the launch of the Neel 65 this year since it is rumored that a 58-foot model is already in gestation...
