The Leopard 43 PC, a catamaran with a dedicated engine for relaxation

Leopard Catamarans (TUI Marine Group) continues to develop its range of power catamarans with the 43 PC, which will be presented at the multihull boat show (13 to 17 April) in La Grande-Motte. A spacious and comfortable catamaran with three distinct areas - front and aft cockpit and flybridge - dedicated to relaxation.

The 43 PC replaces the 39 PC, which was operated for 5 years and whose last units were sold at the end of 2015. At Leopard Catamarans the range is renewed quite regularly. Thus, the 51 PC, the first motor model of the South African group, released two years ago came to replace the 47 PC. Today, Leopard Catamarans offers two motorized models, the 43 PC (13 m) and the 51 PC (15.54 m).

The new 43 PC is the variation of the Leopard 40 âeuros sailing catamaran. The two boats have in common the aft cockpit, the saloon and the cabins. But the hulls are different since the speed requirements are not the same for sailing and motoring. On this version, they are therefore longer.

The 43 PC has stepped hulls, very thin below the waterline to maintain performance, and wider at the waterline to increase interior volume. Thus, with less wetted surface area, the Leopard 43 PC achieves a top speed of 22.7 knots while consuming moderate fuel. Its cruising speed is about 14/15 knots, "a speed that allows it to distinguish itself from competitors, in the 40-foot motor catamaran segment (12 m)" explains the manufacturer.

Unlike its sailing counterpart (Leopard 40), which has a raised helm station, the 43 PC has a true flybridge with a fully equipped hard-top: bar with sink, refrigerator and grill, as well as a large lounge (convertible into a sunbathing area), located next to the helm station, at the front of the boat. A protection system is installed all around the flybridge for sailing in milder temperatures.

The cockpit is occupied on the port side by a dining area. From this space, one reaches the interior of the boat, through a large sliding glass door. Opened, it creates an inside/outside space and facilitates communication between the two spaces. Inside the boat, at the back of the boat, there is a second large dining area.

At the front of the saloon, the modern and equipped galley is located on the starboard side. To the right of the galley, a glass door gives access to the foredeck and the windlass. This front door, which is also found on the 51 PC, did not exist on the older models. It allows to reach the front of the boat when the weather is bad, but also to create a big ventilation. Leaving the two front and back spaces open allows to ventilate and to refresh the boat, even in full summer. On the galley side, there is also a beautiful bay window that makes the interior of the boat bright.

Sold in private 3 or 4 cabin versions under the Leopard Catamarans brand, this latest generation catamaran is also available for management-charter at Moorings, under the name 433 PC (for 3 cabins) and 434 PC (for 4 cabins). Unlike the private version where the catamaran can be customized, the management-charter versions are all similar and equipped for maximum comfort on board.

The Leopard Catamarans 43 PC, with its 13 m length, remains a multihull easy to handle, even in pairs.
