Catamarans Fountaine Pajot: 40 years and a video

Founded in 1976, the catamaran specialist Fountaine-Pajot celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. For the occasion, he launched a video retracing his history and setting out his working philosophy.

From the Montreal Olympics to 2016, a constant evolution

Founded in 1976 by Jean-François Fountaine and Yves Pajot on their return from the Olympic Games in Montréal, the shipyard initially built dinghies and sailboards, then racing monohulls. After J-F Fountaine and Pierre Follenfant won the La Rochelle âeuros La Nouvelle Orléans transatlantic race in 1982 on the catamaran Charente-Maritime, the entrepreneur launched a two-hull project! With the late naval architect Michel Joubert, he adapted the light catamaran concept to cruising. Year after year, the boats produced evolved towards greater comfort, sometimes sacrificing performance to the customer's wishes, as the founder says in the video. In 1998, he launched his first motor catamaran.

A video combining memories and corporate communication

As a promotional tool for the Fountaine-Pajot group, the 40th anniversary video offers us beautiful archive footage retracing the history of the shipyard, enhanced by comments from founder Jean-François Fountaine. It continues with images of today's shipyard and models, commented on by the group's players in 2016, setting out the philosophy and objectives of the Aigrefeuille d'Aunis manufacturer, in a more institutional discourse.
