The schooner America attacks a round the world voyage

The replica of the famous schooner that won the America's Cup is embarking on a tour that should take it all over the world

A tour to promote the history of the America's Cup

In partnership with the America's Cup organization, the eponymous schooner is embarking on a tour of the major ports and yacht clubs. Troy Sears, a businessman passionate about the 100 Guineas Cup, noted the lack of knowledge of the trophy by the youngest and the growing lack of interest among the oldest. He therefore decided to launch an awareness program for this more than 100-year old race, recalling its history and present. What better way to do that than by replying to the first winner, the one who started the regatta?

A beautiful schooner to seduce the public

42.40 m long and built in moulded wood in 1995, the sailboat will not fail to attract attention in its path. The operation is also an opportunity to renew its wardrobe through a partnership with North Sails, which is replacing its 547 m² of sail area with a classic looking dacron.

North American tour in 2016 / 2017

The beginning of the route is already set. The schooner will sail up the east coast of the United States throughout 2016, then will be in the Caribbean in 2017 to join the Cup in Bermuda. Another meeting with the America's Cup Series is planned in New York.

2018 Heading for Europe

After the Bermuda Cup, Troy Sears wants to head to the old continent. "I hope this tour will bring me all over the world. If I stay the course, I should come back to San Diego," says the businessman, passionate.

European amateurs are waiting for him on a firm footing!
