The Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, a must for classic and vintage yachts


The Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge has been held every year for 12 years and brings together the most beautiful classic and vintage yachts in various places around the world. A total of 10 events constitute the Challenge, taking place from April to September. The first European event will be the Voiles d'Antibes.

The first world circuit dedicated to classic and period sailing yachts is a must for all sailing enthusiasts. Every year, it brings together some of the world's most famous regatta sites, spread over two distinct international circuits, from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean.

The superb classic and vintage sailing yachts will be competing for trophies, among others, the exclusive Panerai watches promised to the winners of each regatta. In 2015, Moonbeam IV, Il Moro di Venezia I, Manitou and Siren were among the winners.

The Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge opens in April with the traditional Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta (13 - 19 April), which has been closing the Caribbean season every year since the 1960s with an exceptional sailing event in English Harbour.

In June, return to Europe for the Mediterranean Circuit, which begins on the French Riviera with Les Voiles d'Antibes (June 1 - 5), before continuing in Italy with the Argentario Sailing Week in Tuscany (June 16 - 19). Another highly anticipated event in 2016 is Le Vele d'Epoca di Imperia (7 - 11 September). Organized every other year, this event attracts dozens of historic boats to the Italian Riviera. The season ends with the Cannes Royal Regatta, from 20 to 24 September.

Four regattas are on the programme of the North American Circuit, the second part of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge organised on the other side of the Atlantic: the Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta in Marblehead (12 - 14 August), the Sail Nantucket Regatta, which is on the North American calendar for the first time (19 - 20 August), the Opera House Cup in Nantucket (21 August) and finally the Newport Classic Yacht Regatta (2 - 4 September).

The legendary Isle of Wight in Great Britain will be the setting for the only European regatta held outside Mediterranean waters: Panerai British Classic Week in Cowes (16 - 23 July).
