Brest 2016 Grand Parade, a must!

Who says Brest's Fêtes Maritimes says Grand Parade! Organised on 19 July 2016, at the end of the week of festivities, it consists of travelling from Brest to Douarnenez by boat, passing through the pile of peas, a very strong symbol.

The Grand Parade is a unique show and puts an end to a week of festivities in the harbor of Brest. On the water as well as on land, you have to admire the whole of a superb fleet gathered on the waves. The goal is to reach the bridges of Douarnenez from the Breton capital. So that the spectators do not lose a crumb, whether they are on land or embarked, the idea is the following: stagger the departures of traditional boats, racing or pleasure sailboats, motor boats ...

The course

The boats will leave the Rade de Brest and sail along the coast towards Douarnenez to join the Douarnenez festival. This is an opportunity for yachtsmen to join the fleet and to sail alongside the old riggings and other prestigious boats.

The first departures from Brest will take place around 8 am and will follow a precise route.

Participate in the parade with your boat

For those who wish to participate in complete safety with their boat, it is possible to register with the organization. For a fee of 20 euros per boat, boaters will be able to benefit from the rescue and safety system at sea set up by Nautisme En Finistère. The fleet will be identified by a flag, given by the organization.

Embark on a sailboat

To enjoy the Fêtes Maritimes de Brest on the water, it is also possible to embark on a sailing boat. You can choose to board a traditional sailboat (Le Bro Warok, L'Enez Koalen, L'Ernestine, Le Marie Georgette, Le Skeaf VII, Le Golden Leeuw) for a 4-hour trip from and to Brest, worth 100 euros.

Otherwise, the passenger boats also allow you to enjoy the Grand Parade for a lower budget (6 euros).

Enjoy the show on foot

For those who do not have the possibility to follow the show from the water, a magnificent point of view is offered to them. The GR 34, which runs from Douarnenez to the Pointe du Raz, will be a very nice observation post, and beautiful walks in perspective. But other viewpoints will allow to enjoy the parade : the Pen Hir point, the Espagnols point and the coastal path between the Porzic lighthouse and the Saint-Mathieu point.
