Flybridge or 3rd bridge, the innovation of the Arcadia 85S

Arcadia 85S

Arcadia Yachts will present the world premiere of Arcadia 85S, a special edition of Arcadia 85, at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016. This new edition has a sky-lounge in addition to the 85.

Arcadia Yachts - the innovative and "eco-friendly" Italian shipyard - will launch the Arcadia 85S, the new "special" edition of the Arcadia 85 with sky-lounge, at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016 (6-11 September 2016).

An innovative flybridge

The Arcadia 85S has a new "sky-lounge" concept on this special edition, an open-air deck saloon, which can also be transformed into a 3 e protected deck, completely enclosed and protected by a 360° opening window. This "upperdeck" area can be used in all weather conditions. The roof slides down and the side windows open fully to give the impression of being on a real flybridge. When it is colder, the structure closes completely.

On the main deck, there is a wheelhouse, a lounge with sofas and coffee tables, a minibar and outside, on the back part, a sundeck.

A family and economic yacht

Hull N° 1, which was delivered last May to an American owner, will therefore be visible on the pontoons of the Côte d'Azur. Arcadia 85S was designed as a family yacht that combines several different exterior functions. The two decks allow guests to spend more time together. While inside, the aesthetics have been developed around the theme of "open space" and contact with nature thanks to the full height windows.

The Arcadia 85S's layout and functional living spaces are the result of an evolution in construction: the linear design of the superstructure and the vertical line of the bow allow for better use of the available interior and exterior space. In fact, the living space is larger than a yacht of similar size. But what makes the Arcadia 85S unique is that it has found a way to integrate solar panels on a yacht with sailing performance.

On the Arcadia 85S Hull No. 1, the soundproofing capability index has been improved by replacing PVC, for the front part of the hull, with a balsa core sandwich structure. The semi-planing hull promises efficient performance, while the very light aluminum superstructure significantly reduces weight and fuel consumption and low engine operating costs.

The Arcadia 85S is 25,90 m long (84.95ft) has a full load displacement of 67 tons. It has MAN Diesel twin R6-730hp engines (each) (Optional engine: 2xMAN 1000 HP). Its maximum speed is 18 knots and it can comfortably reach the cruising speed of 16 knots. At the speed of 12 knots, its autonomy is 850 minutes.

A high-performance NPL shell

The Arcadia 85S features a semi-planing NPL hull, named after the National Physical Laboratory of England, where tests were conducted to determine the shape that would provide the best length-to-width ratio in terms of hydrodynamic efficiency.

Studies were previously conducted by the Arcadia team for the hull has excellent marine qualities, reducing noise and providing exceptional comfort. This advanced hull and the yacht's light superstructure provide very satisfactory performance with low power engines. This significantly reduces fuel consumption and related operating costs compared to other yachts of similar size.

Solar panels for additional energy

Latest generation solar cells are integrated between the outer and inner surface of the double glazed panels installed over most of the superstructure. The 36m2 of solar panels - each composed of hundreds of high performance solar cells - installed on board form an advanced and ecological system and provide up to 3.5 kW. This power is sufficient to guarantee self-sufficiency energy for many electrical equipments and systems, such as refrigerators, water circulation, toilets, lights, electronics, or battery recharging.

For example, the power needed on board at anchor is provided (except for the air conditioning system) all day by the solar panel and inverter system rather than by the generators. This saves diesel fuel, reduces pollution and brings more comfort on board by reducing noise, vibration and gas emissions near the bathing platform. Each solar panel contains a special gas called Krypton that guarantees a high thermal insulation power â?" up to 18° of thermal cooling between the inside and outside temperatures â?" the equivalent of a 20 cm brick wall.

Layout and design

The design of the Arcadia 85S reflects a simple and sober style with a harmonious mix of interior and exterior spaces. Its deckhouse has been made almost entirely of double-layered reflective glass, giving the interior a bright and airy atmosphere.

The sliding ceiling and side blinds can provide privacy and shade. The Arcadia 85S has a large aft deck saloon (8.50 m long) and a well-protected cockpit, as well as a large sunbathing area at the bow. The hull N° 1 of the yacht has four guest cabins (one VIP cabin with double bed and dressing room and 2 double cabins) on the lower level including the owner's suite, very large with a nice bedroom with bathroom.

The bow of the yacht offers space for 4 crew members. A large space has been allocated to the crew as well as to the technical parts, such as the garage which can accommodate a 4 m tender and 2 jet skis.

In the more intimate âeuros lounge, there is enough space to accommodate 8 people. Even though the well-protected aft deck allows you to spend a lot of time outside the boat. The furniture is fully customizable and on this version, there is an open kitchen in the dining area.
