The Autumn boat shows mark the beginning of the nautical season. The Cannes Yachting Festival (6-11 Sept 2016) will open the ball on the Mediterranean coast. It will be followed by the Salon du Grand Pavois (28 Sept - 3 Oct 2016), in La Rochelle, on the Atlantic coast. Both are afloat, allowing you to try the boats. But where can you find out what's new in motorboating?

Out of 79 new motorboats (world premiere), the Cannes Boat Show largely won the vote with 76 boats and semi-rigid exhibited to the public for the first time. La Rochelle will be satisfied with 3 real novelties. The Cannes Yachting Festival is therefore the first show of the season, but also the one chosen by the shipyards to present their innovations.

The Mediterranean boat show also remains very typical motor boat. Having done the same analysis, for sailing We can see that only 17 boats will be unveiled for the first time in Cannes, and 15 in La Rochelle. The two exhibitions are therefore quite complementary in this field. Note however that the largest units will be to be discovered in Cannes.

Princess 49

In the motorboat sector, the Cannes Yachting Festival will mainly present large models with 41 units over 13 m, mainly from Italy (more than 30 yards on new models).

Cannes Boat Show and the Grand Pavois thus mark their difference in the core target. The first offers large units, typical Mediterranean for a rather foreign clientele (Italy, Russia...) and present many projects also of foreign origin (Italy, United Kingdom, Turkey, Poland, Netherlands...).

Merry Fisher 795 Marlin

The Grand Pavois remains a typical Atlantic show for a French clientele that offers sailboats as well as motor boats. On the engine side, its positioning is still quite"fishing" as we can see with shipyards that choose to present Fishing models in La Rochelle and cruiser models in Cannes. This is the case of Wimbi Boat, the semi-rigid brand from Australia, which will present the W6 (fishing oriented) in La Rochelle and the W10 (more Mediterranean) in Cannes. Or Jeanneau who will present his Merry Fisher 895 Marlin at La Rochelle rather than Cannes.
