The spirit of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez on video

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2016 : HIGHLIGHTS from GMR+G1 on Vimeo.

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez took place from 24 September to 2 October 2016. This large gathering of period sailing ships and modern sailing ships takes place every year in the bay of Saint-Tropee and continues to attract crowds! An event still as beautiful and successful to (re)discover in video.

Nearly 4000 sailors gathered in the bay of Saint-Tropez to race in good spirits and fair play in Mediterranean waters. The nice weather was there, making the event even more magical!

On the water, nearly 300 sailing boats - modern and classic - among the most beautiful in the world raced for a week in a spirit of sharing, conviviality and fair play. Because the state of mind of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is above all to have fun on the water "There's no real issue at stake." had explained to us André Beaufils President of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez.

Every day, the boats go out to sea for regattas by category. On Thursday, Challenge Day consists of challenging any Sail participant. Finally, several trophies are awarded to the first in each category.

But the Voiles de Saint-Tropez is also a great celebration on land, with all the crews celebrating among themselves, to recall the spirit of the Nioulargue (ancestor of the Voiles).

The video below, made by photographer Gilles-Martin Raget, based on images by Guilain Grenier, is first of all very beautiful, but rather captures the spirit of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. So for those who would never have been there or those who would want to relive them, it's down there!
