L'Amage, the future biggest yacht in the world?

The concept of superyacht L'Amage

For the moment, this 190 m long superyacht is only at the project stage. Designed by H.Bekradi, HBD Studios, it was designed in collaboration with a naval architect, to validate the feasibility of the design. A concept that would hold up well since it is not unlike the superyacht A, with its radical design, which saw the light of day in 2008. If it were to be built, it would dethrone the Azzam with its 180 m length.

The Amage is a superyacht concept designed by H.Bekradi founder of HBD Studios unveiled in September 2016 during the Monaco Yacht Show. With a length of 190 m, it would be the largest yacht in the world if it were born. Azzam, a 180 m long yacht worth 470 million euros, currently holds the record.

Its minimalist and refined exterior style with its numerous decks and its inverted bow hull design are reminiscent of the lines of the superyacht A, designed by designer Philippe Starck in 2008. In fact, the entire length of the hull has a long line that brings a dynamic and elegant side to the boat.

The superyacht A

"The inspiration for this project was to design a futuristic superyacht that goes beyond the concept, using current technology, and developed in collaboration with naval architects, explains designer H.Bekradi.

The Amage is 190 m long overall and 28.6 m wide and can accommodate 28 passengers. On board, there are 14 cabins and a private apartment for the owner as well as the necessary accommodation for 70 crew members. There is also a jacuzzi on the upper deck of the boat, a very large swimming pool on the main deck and electric bathing platforms, which can be used to create beach clubs or a tender boarding platform, or a helipad.

The superyacht uses one of the most advanced propulsion technologies in the marine industry called CODAG (combination of diesel engines and gas turbines) combined with variable pitch propellers. According to estimates, it could reach a maximum speed of 32 knots thanks to the 95,000 HP generated by its 2 diesel engines running on 2 gas turbines "This propulsion system is mainly used for warships that need a higher speed than their cruising speed, says the designer. The fuel capacity of 1500 tons allows the superyacht a range of 6000 miles according to the design studio.

To design the Amage, HBD Studios consulted Christoph Kuhnert of Yacht Naval Architects (YNA) on the overall feasibility of the hull design and shape from the outset.

A technological yacht

"Amage will be the first superyacht project to integrate Kymeta flat satellite technology. This technology replaces the unsightly satellite domes on top of the yacht, which has been an industry standard for years." says H.Bekradi

These satellite panels can be easily installed anywhere behind the exterior walls of the superstructure. The result is a lighter, thinner antenna mast that frees up more space on the boat's sundeck.
