European Motor Boats of the Year 2017: here are the 5 winners!

Bavaria E40, winner in the trawler category

Like its counterpart, the European Yacht of the Year - which rewards the best European yachts, the European Powerboat of the Year 2017 dedicated the five best new boats of the 2017 season at the opening night of the Düsseldorf Boot. Discover them.

The European Powerboat of the Year 2017 was held for the 11 e times, on the opening night of the Boot Dusseldorf. The German Boat Show opened its doors this Saturday, January 21st for ten days and brings together international nautical actors. It is an opportunity for the industry to come together on the evening of 21 January, during Flagship Night, to reward the five best motorboats for the 2017 season.

The jury, composed of editors and chief editors and journalists from nine motor boat magazines (Norway, Italy (2), France, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Germany) chose by a majority its favourite candidates from among the 25 boats selected for their innovations and divided into five categories.

Every year, more than 250 new motorboat models arrive on the market. To ensure fairness, the models selected by the jury are classified according to their length: up to 25 feet, up to 35 feet, up to 45 feet, over 45 feet and a trawler category, with no size restriction. The usual characteristics such as the know-how of the shipyard or the boat's handling are judged, but also the use of space, the overall concept and the price/performance ratio.

Up to 25 feet

In the category of powerboats under 25 feet, it is the Sting 610 BR who wins the trophy. This 6.10 m bowrider offers good value for money and is also distinguished by its good manoeuvrability characteristics. Clever details in the accessories and plenty of space in the cockpit make this boat a good choice, especially for those new to motorboating.

Trawlers

In the trawler category, where no size restrictions apply, it is the Bavaria E40 ( See the 360° presentation ) which wins the title of European Yacht of The Year 2017. This 12.29m motoryacht has a truly innovative interior layout as typical of Nordic or river cruising boats. This means that the cockpit is installed aft, in the centre of the boat and in an elevated position. The pilot thus participates in the life on board, even while sailing. This launch offers a lot of space for a 40-foot vessel. The quality/price ratio is also a distinctive feature.
