Bavaria launches its first motor catamaran!

Nautitech 47 Power

Bavaria will launch its first motor catamaran, the Nautitech 47 Power, at the beginning of 2018, most certainly in Düsseldorf. This new model will be built on the same hull as its sailing counterpart, the Nautitech Open 46. This is information that we had already told you about in April 2015.

Bavaria, which acquired Nautitech - a rock-fort-specialist in catamarans - in 2014, to launch itself into the multihull sector, will put its new skills to good use. The German shipyard has just announced the construction of a new motor catamaran called the Nautitech 47 Power. This 14-metre long model will be built on the same hull as the Nautitech Open 46, as explained by the shipyard. Thus, the two multihulls will have the same size, the same habitability and the same interior fittings. On the other hand, the exteriors will change . In this article, we will see how to roll up long ends. In this example the technique is described for a right-handed person.

After the completion of the design and engineering phases, the catamaran will soon enter into construction at the Bavaria Catamarans shipyard in Rochefort, France (formerly Nautitech catamarans).

The Nautitech 47 Power will have a maximum speed of 22 knots, a range of 1000 miles at a cruising speed of 9 knots. The yard presents it as a "luxurious" catamaran for long-distance cruising, with many comfort spaces both outside and inside.

At the front, there is a cockpit with sofas, between the two hulls instead of the trampoline. The latter is reduced to its simplest expression in the last metre of the catamaran. The central beam is used to circulate the wetting and supports the table.

At the rear, the platform between the two hulls has two uses:

  • Storage of the tender (the site specifies that the platform can easily lift a Williams Minijet 280 2.78 m long/210 kg out of the water)
  • Water bathing platform on the water
  • Underwater swimming platform

The Nautitech 47 Power will be equipped with a flybridge with bimini or hardtop where you will find on the front a helm station and on the back a saloon with a kitchenette (grill, bar...).

In the large cockpit protected by the flybridge cap, there is a right bench seat at the rear and a saloon with sofa and table in the centre with direct access to the saloon. Bavaria calls this provision "Open Concept", as was done on the Nautitech 46. In this arrangement, the cockpit and the saloon form a single living space.

The Nautitech 47 Power will be equipped with two Volvo Penta D4 engines of 225 or 300 hp each. It will take a while to get additional information and visuals on this new model.
