The Nexus 870 Revo, a coastal trawler for cruising like on a sailboat

Catway - distributor of Northman's Maxus sailboats - will present its first powerboat, the Nexus 870 Revo, an 8.70 m coastal trawler, at the Grand Pavois. Even if there were already two previous models (the Courier 970 and the Nexus 850), this trawler is a new concept, whose objective is to offer sailing as on a sailboat. It will be on display at the Grand Pavois (La Rochelle) from September 27 to October 2.

Cruise with your family in a comfortable way

The Nexus 870 Revo is a trawler designed for coastal cruising, in "slow life" mode as Jean-Baptiste Bittard, manager of the Catway shipyard, explains. The idea is to propose a concept of a motor boat with displacement, rather slow, with a reasonable and very habitable consumption to make cruises, as one can do on a sailboat.

On the design side, we find the look of the Nordic units, with a wheelhouse that can be completely closed and a very livable interior. On deck, it will be easy to move around, thanks to the front decks, where the rounded deck frees up as much space as possible and accommodates two sunbathing areas, towards the stern, where the well-protected cockpit offers a dining area and easy access to the rear deck.

Inside, the living space is maximized to accommodate up to 6 people. There is a cabin for two people in the front, a cabin in the rear and centre, a saloon/kitchenette (optional can be converted into an additional bed), as well as a toilet with shower. In the standard version, the layout is open (only the toilet is closed), but as an option, the cabins can be closed.

The boat is available in a cabrio version (more suitable for waterways due to the height on some canals), which can be equipped with a convertible canvas and a bimini or in a Hard-top version (which can be equipped with a canvas to close the wheelhouse). It is in this latter version that it will be presented to the Grand Pavois . In this article, we will see how to roll up long ends. In this example the technique is described for a right-handed person.

An economical boat with low fuel consumption

In terms of powertrain, the Nexus 870 Revo is available in inboard or outboard version. In the first version, it can be equipped with a 30 or 45 HP for very slow navigation. In the outboard version, the engine will be between 30 and 100 HP (on average between 50/60 HP). The objective is to offer a motor boat with low fuel consumption, to favour cruising.

With this new trawler, the yard hopes to attract old sailors, too old to continue sailing or motor boat owners, cooled by the fuel consumption aspect. And this is the case in Poland, where the boat was launched last winter.

"We want to attract a clientele of boaters wishing to go from port to port, go river cruising, go for a walk at sea, have a mixed programme to live in " mode jean-Marie Bittard explains.

The Nexus 870 Revo should be sold for between ?50,000 and ?60,000 without a motor. After its presentation at the Grand Pavois (La Rochelle), it will begin a test tour in the Mediterranean, Cap d'Agde, but also in Switzerland (Geneva and Neufchâtel)
