Rigging workshop, professional refit of the masts

Rigging Workshop

With professional standard methods, Atelier Gréement approaches the refit of all the rigging in the image of what is done on racing yachts. Having become the reference for the Mediterranean, yachts, many of which are multihulls, travel from far and wide to come to this professional.

On a sailboat, the mast and all the rigging often takes second place when you think about refit. Often the fittings, the upholstery and the engine come first. These are visible repair points. But it is difficult to judge the state of the rigging..

Apart from worn halyards with sheaths showing signs of age, the mast on deck does not give much information about its condition. And what about the cables that make up the standing rigging?

In-depth expertise

For 10 years, the company Atelier Gréement, based in Canet-en-Roussillon, has been taking care of the masts and all its peripheral equipment: spars, cables, fittings... These years of experience have enabled it to set up an expertise procedure and a technical inspection for masts.

Before dismasting, a technician is sent to the mast to draw up a visual inspection sheet. At each stage, the customer receives a report with photos. If dismasting is necessary, Atelier Gréement carries out the operation.

For carbon masts, Atelier Gréement brings in an expert to validate the condition of the mast. It obtains the drape distribution plans from the mast manufacturer in order to carry out the necessary checks. The client is reassured by a coherent whole. From the mast manufacturer, the experts, the laminators and the rigging workshop. A group of professionals who offer a serious approach, very close to the checks we see today on racing yachts.

A high-performance workshop

With its team of 3 technicians (and an assistant), Atelier Gréement can answer all requests.

For the stainless steel frame, she has the crimp ends and the crimper in stock. A gutter for measuring the cables allows her to respond immediately to the demand, to make a custom-made cable at the same time. For Rod or Kevlar, Atelier Gréement is a Navtec agent who delivers orders quickly but can also adapt to any other brand of standing rigging.

A very well equipped seamanship workshop

For ropes, Atelier Gréement does not have a brand name, but prefers to choose the best from the different rope manufacturers. It is thus able to adapt the rope to the boat's budget and programme.

The seamanship workshop has an 8t tensile test bench which carries out strength tests of the estropes or splices. Another bench pretends the ropes and carries out the stretching before installing them on the boats.
