Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez are THE great gathering of traditional yachting. For ten days or so, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez is adorned with thousands of sails for big regattas between the most beautiful sailing ships in the world. For this 19th edition, there are still 300 of them present - a mix of modern and classic - to join the bay of Saint-Tropez in a majestic parade
Each year, Saint-Tropez becomes the epicentre of classic yachting and attracts sailboats that have marked the history of sailing. Among them, the class of 15 MJI, who will participate in the famous Rolex Trophy
"There are only four yachts left ( The Lady Ann, Mariska, Tuiga and Hispania) on the twenty of 15 MJI ever built to sustain the grace, elegance and speed of this royal class. Built between 1907 and 1917, these monohulls designed for racing were sailing at the time in England, France, Spain and Germany. It is now in the Mediterranean that the last representatives of this mythical category engage in fabulous friendly confrontations. These elegant 27 meter gold-plated cutters have the double characteristic of being of the lineage of the most beautiful units of the golden age of yachting and of having been designed by William Fife. There are no winches here. The many crew members on board have to combine their strength and coordination to manoeuvre the 377 m² of sails. An indescribable effort, but so necessary to make these classic boats race."
They will be 4000 crew and sailors to take part in this great celebration at sea, ashore! A warm atmosphere where the party is in full swing.
