Gozzo, a weekend that revisits the traditional Italian fishing boat

The Gozzo, the modern version of the Italian fishing boat

Apréamare has decided to revive the Gozzo, a traditional Italian fishing boat launched 170 years ago. The Italian shipyard presented this small 10 m open at the Cannes Yachting Festival for a day trip or a small family cruise, and whose round lines attracted the eye from the pontoons.

The Gozzo was launched in 1849 by the Italian shipyard Apreamare. And for 170 years, the Aprea family has more than ever made history with the "Gozzo Sorrentino", a fishing boat. Historically, fishing boats, whose origins were deeply rooted in the Italian marine tradition, were first built entirely of wood and then of fibreglass.

In order to renew the range and give new life to the Gozzo, Apreamare presented a new model at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017, with a new line, the Gozzo, a 10 m cabin cruiser. A model whose rounded lines are typical of the Gozzi, traditional Italian fishing boats.

"The hull lines have been renewed with a straight bow and a cockpit developed for living in." graziella explains.

The Gozzo has a walk-around deck layout, with a very large aft cockpit and a large forward deck. At the rear, the large sunbathing area covers the engine hold that houses 2x200 hp Volvo Penta. "The Gozzo is also available in a single-engine version for a younger audience, at a lower price". The sunbed backrest is removable, for a layout facing the sea or towards the inside of the cockpit. By removing a central cushion, you then have a cockpit table with a U-shaped bench seat. On deck, there are storage lockers everywhere, as well as a very nice swimming platform on the stern. On the stern, the hull is crushed - typical of the Gozzo - for a smoother passage at sea.

At the steering station, the pilot chair moves forward and backward (on a rail) to create a comfortable chair. The backrest is also removable, depending on whether you want to enjoy the cockpit or drive. A bimini stows behind the electric windshield, which goes up or down to protect against the spray. A cover also closes on the dashboard to protect the navigation instruments.

Despite a very low roof, the height under the deck is impressive: 1.80 m and the interiors are spacious. The front of the Gozzo has an open double cabin with 2 cupboards. On the port side, there is a kitchen and opposite it is a real bathroom with a separate shower. A mid-cabin completes the interior layout, made bright by the uninterrupted glazing that surrounds the roof and the two side hull glazings in the forward cabin.

With its 2x200 hp, the Gozzo reaches a maximum speed of 28 knots thanks to its gliding hull and a cruising speed of 24 knots. " The particularity of Gozzo is its low consumption. In the twin-engine version, it consumes 50 L/h "informs us Graziella.

This small weekend is ideal for a day trip or a small family cruise thanks to its 4 beds. Several versions will also be available as a tender version for superyacht without cabin and a scuba diving version.

The colours can be customised on the hull and upholstery with a choice of 10 flash colours. Note the very wide gangways that make it easy to move around on board. The bulwarks are not very high, but handrails can be installed as an option.
