Ostrea 800 HB, fast and versatile open or sport fishing, the choice is yours!

The Ostrea 800 in wheelhouse version

At the Grand Pavois 2017, Ocqueteau presented its brand new Ostrea 800, in pilot version (with a wheelhouse) and T-Top version. These two outboard models have the same hull and deck plan, but are aimed at a different clientele.

The Ostrea is a range of sport fishing boats dedicated to both pleasure boaters and professionals looking for a spacious, comfortable boat with excellent seakeeping. After the success of the Ostrea 600, Ocqueteau finally launches its big brother, the Ostrea 800. The range is also composed of an Ostrea 700, but only offered inboard. "We took a little time to develop this new model because we were afraid it would interfere with the 700 inboard." explains Charlotte Marijon, in charge of communication at the site. "But this boat was eagerly awaited since our buyers are often fishermen and their number one criterion is space on board." she adds.

A successful challenge for the shipyard since this 7.80 m model (compared to 6.20 m for the Ostrea 600) has a very large cockpit, even more impressive in the T-Top version. With an approved length of 6.99 m, it is exempt from francization on the hull.

The Ostrea 800 has a completely flat walk-around deck that makes it easy to go around the boat. The cockpit is left empty with a simple seat at the stern or accommodates a cockpit saloon that allows meals to be taken on board thanks to a removable table. The saloon can be used as a sunbathing area in the Pilot version, while the T-Top version has a large sunbathing area on the foredeck.

In the pilot version, 4 persons are comfortably accommodated in the wheelhouse, a sink under the starboard seat, a cooler under the pilot seat, and a 2-person bunk, which often serves as storage. Under the bunk is a large locker and standard toilet facilities. The aft door, present on the model on display in the saloon, is an option.

"The Ostrea 600 in the pilot version has been a great success, as 23 boats have already been sold, even though it has only just been launched at the Grand Pavois", charlotte explains.

The pilot version is available with a 250 hp Honda outboard engine (and receives up to 300 hp max). Thanks to its IFH hull made of vacuum infused fibreglass-wood-honeycomb sandwich, it reaches a maximum speed of 44 knots (with 300 hp) and over 30 knots with 150 hp.

The T-Top version is much more leisurely with a sportier design. It feels like two different boats with the same deck layout. On this version, there is a large sundeck at the bow. The helm station has been raised with a console covered with a T-Top and adapted to accommodate 2 bunks.

"This version is more Spartan and is a great success for fishing in hot countries like Reunion." details Charlotte. "In the Mediterranean, the leisure side will be favoured with the practice of water sports, in particular thanks to the cockpit space to accommodate all the necessary equipment. The Ostrea 800 T-Top is more about aesthetics and comfort on board" she adds. The console seats swivel to face the cockpit and it is also possible to install a cabinet behind.

The Ostrea T-Top receives a 300 hp Evinrude for a top speed of 43.5 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots.
