Astus 20.5, a new trimaran designed by VPLP

After the 16.5, VPLP is designing the new Astus 20.5. a revival of a range that wants to be more and more playful, but still within its family sailing niche.

The Astus 20.2 was eight years old. With the aim of renewing its range, the Astus shipyard decided to replace it: place to the Astus 20.5. After the successful collaboration with the naval architecture firm VPLP for the 16.5 (launched in 2015), the shipyard trusts them again to design the new 20.5.

So this new trimaran will be more efficient. With much larger floats (930 l VS 700 l), and a central hull with a very tulip-shaped bow so as not to get wet, this trimaran will also have a flat hull at the stern for easy gliding.

On the layout side, the Astus 20.2 had a large deckhouse as an option to offer a little more roominess. This time, this large deckhouse will be standard.

And the first renderings that can be discovered give the predecessor a good old-fashioned look. No doubt it will be the same for the performances..

But the concept of Astus is not forgotten. The link arms remain telescopic to facilitate the transport and lower the manufacturing costs. The philosophy remains the same: a transportable and nomadic sailboat for raids or day trips.
