Incredible video where we see the dismasting of a catamaran in the Aegean Sea (Greece). Obviously the wind was strong that day and the catamaran mast, probably too covered, did not resist.
The skipper's reflexes are good. He starts by cutting the engine to make sure that no rope gets caught in the propellers. Then we see him, still with the camera on his head, cutting all the halyards and sheets to free the rigging.
Only the boom will be saved. Everything else sank into the sea. We can see here that the shroud clamp which should be on board is not used, but that the tools on board (clamp, cutter, knife) are the best friends.
