The Abaco 800, Ocqueteau's open that breaks with fishing

It is through its Ostrea range, fishing boats with excellent marine qualities, that the Ocqueteau shipyard has built its reputation. Today, the shipyard presents a brand new model: the Abaco 800, a 7.8 m open boat for comfortable family outings or for the pleasure of speed at almost 50 knots!

The Abaco 800 will be the next Ocqueteau shipyard model to see the light of day in July 2018. With this 7.8 m single-engine open outboard motorboat, the Oleron-based shipyard wants to break with its image of "fishing boats" and offer a sporty and modern dayboat model, as Charlotte Marijon, in charge of the shipyard's communication, explains. "The Abaco 800 is a pure open, which breaks with the traditional Ocqueteau fiber. We want to offer a modern, highly motorized boat to seduce a new clientele. We're moving away from our core product line, which is the Ostrea, pure fishing boats."

The Abaco 800 will benefit from the same hull shape as the Ostrea 800 (same hull mould), which had seduced by its marine qualities. The deck mould will change, as the 800's pilot will disappear in favour of a centre console.

The shipyard is banking on comfort on board with this model by now offering a forward saloon with a U-shaped bench seat, which can be transformed into a large sundeck. The central console is surrounded by a wrap-around windscreen and accommodates a tilting bench seat for 2 or 3 people, under which there is a galley area with sink and pressurized water, a cooler or refrigerator.

The strength of the construction site is to be able to offer a cabin with sleeping space for 2 people and toilets. The headroom should not be very high - between 45 and 50 cm - but will nevertheless allow you to enjoy a nap, put children to bed or provide ample storage space.

The aft cockpit accommodates a straight bench seat at the stern with a cockpit table (which stows in the cockpit hood), folding side benches and a compass seat (on the rear of the pilot seat). In this configuration, 8 people can sit around the double table.

The Abaco 800 will be offered in two versions, a standard version that can take up to 300 HP (maximum speed estimated at 35 knots with 200 HP) and a racing version with a reinforced hull that can be powered up to 400 HP.

Bare hull price :

  • 31,000 euros including tax for the 300 version,
  • 33,000 incl. VAT for the Racing 400 version

Price packs will be available with engine from dealers. For example, for the Abaco 800 Racing, with Suzuki DF 350 ATX: from 63,200 euros including tax.
