A successful maneuver involves passing the mooring lines properly. Knowing how to throw it properly is a guarantee of safety. To throw a mooring line properly, it must be correctly coiled. The loops must not be crossed so that they spin quickly when you throw it.
To properly coil a rope (a mooring line or other), you must rotate your wrist from right to left to remove the figure eight or hulls that may form. Do not hesitate to turn the rope in your hand, even a full turn if necessary, before seeing the eight disappear.
Loving a mooring
1 - Take the end of the rope in one hand
2 - Use the length of your arms to take the distance of a curl. This way you will have beautiful curls of constant length.
3 - Bring the left hand back into the right hand by making a nice loop in the rope. Watch out for the figure eights!
4 - To avoid hulls, the left hand must rotate the rope, it turns on itself.
Prepare the mooring
1 - The end of the mooring line which remains on board must be hit with a cleat. It must pass under the balcony or the lines to be free once launched.
2 - To turn a mooring line on a cleat run, you must start with a dead turn. This will block the line.
3 - Next, a classic cleat knot is made by making figure eights on the cleat.
4 - Finalize the cleat knot with a half key. Your mooring line is ready to be launched.
Throw a mooring line
1 - Release 3 loops in your right hand, the rest of the mooring line remains in your left hand.
2 - These are the 3 loops that are launched. The others follow naturally. Extend your arm behind you and make a pivot with your body.
3 - The left hand remains open to let the mooring line go.
4 - Don't aim at the person receiving the line. Rather than him getting it on his head, you might as well aim at the dock so that he picks it up.
