An underwater pedalboard thruster
It works a little like a bicycle - a handlebar and pedals - but all you need to do to move is use your feet! Indeed, the Seabike uses the strength of the most powerful muscle group in the human body to effortlessly reach a speed of one meter per second (3.6 km/h), for a top speed of 8 km/h. Its crankset drives a propeller located at the rear that rotates 3.7 times faster than the latter.
Without causing ligament fatigue, you can stay underwater longer. We also consume less energy than with a pair of fins with a 30% yield gain. The adjustable incidence (even underwater) of the propeller blades allows you to choose your propulsion mode according to the conditions of the moment, speed or maximum torque.
Quick to assemble
The Seabike can be assembled without tools in 30 seconds and thanks to its telescopic mast, it adapts to your size. To adjust it, simply place it on the ground and install the front end at the height of your sternum. To use it, you slide it under you, the handles at basin level and your feet on the pedals and you move forward lying in the water.
It is the movement of the pedals that starts the propeller. Its removable floats make it float while you settle in and it can be used on the surface or underwater. To pilot your Seabike, do not intend to use your handlebars since it is your body that controls the underwater thruster.
Options to customize your Seabike
Several options are available to customize the Seabike. A vest equipped with a hook can be clipped onto the handles to free the hands, for example. A tapered plate can replace the handlebars and allows to gain in hydrodynamic efficiency and thus reduces the pedalling effort.
And new in 2018, a snorkeling board is attached to the seabike to form a kind of inflatable bodyboard and pierced to see the seabed. It is now possible to go water hiking without being immersed.
