Oasis, the catamaran inspired by an exploration monohull

Oasis 80, a support catamaran

The naval architecture firm Lazzare Ombres Architects has just unveiled the Oasis project, a hybrid between a motor cruising catamaran and a support yacht (Shadow Yacht).

"The innovation is the stepped design of the boat and the higher freeboard of the floats which allow a totally flush lower deck and which makes all the width of the boat" explains boat designer Joe Lazzara.

The typical layout of a catamaran consists in using the hulls for the cabins. While these spaces are reserved for technical areas in the Oasis. Thus, unlike a classic catamaran, the architecture of this 80-foot catamaran recalls that of a monohull motoryacht on the stern with a deck surface that outcrops the water. On the front, the multihull's V-shaped hulls are clearly visible.

The cabins are located on the lower point and the living space on the upper level. The owner's area (35.5 feet) has private balconies that open on either side in the floats to be as close as possible to the water.

The lower deck offers a 83.6 m2 beach club that can accommodate toys. A large area usually found on 180-foot superyachts. Different storage options are possible: 1 tender of 28 feet and 4 jetskis or 2 tenders of 28 feet. An integrated telescopic crane of 6 tons facilitates the launching of tenders.

The architects also studied the possibility of storing inflatable toys by favouring locations allowing rapid deployment thanks to compressors.

On board this modern Powercat where the windows are part of the design, it is possible to accommodate 10 guests and a crew of 5 people. The lower deck can be equipped with toys or an outdoor lounge.

At this level, there is also a large owner's cabin adjoining the bathing beach, with a shower with smoked walls and a sea view shower. 4 guest cabins with private bathroom are located in the centre, while the bow of the boat is occupied by the crew area with a double cabin for the captain, a cabin with single beds for the rest of the crew and a large kitchen. A private staircase leads directly to the upper deck which houses the living area with lounge, dining room and helm station.

Finally, the flybridge can house a jacuzzi as well as an outdoor dining room and large sunbathing areas on the front. However, this sleek and elegant design will have to be improved, particularly for safety on board, both at sea and at anchor. Starting with chandeliers and candlesticks on the upper deck..
