Cavok gives up! A classic problem of the great departure

Give up but not surrender. Cavok will not leave this autumn for his non-stop world tour in a production catamaran. He encounters a problem often encountered by candidates at the start: how to cut cleanly the bridges with his active life? When life on land catches up with the maritime moment.

Going on a big cruise, going away for a long time, poses problems that one does not necessarily think about when setting up the project. The news proves it today.

Jean-Pierre Fréry has planned a non-stop circumnavigation of the globe via the 3 capes on a production catamaran. A wonderful adventure for which he has prepared in detail a Lagoon 4O0S2. Everything is ready for a departure at the end of September 2018. Everything? Except the work that will unfortunately keep him ashore for another year.

The short term development prospects of his company Chemins d'Océans, as well as the follow-up of the projects set in motion, require his total involvement, incompatible with a departure for nearly six months. The skipper acknowledges having underestimated this observation.

And that's often the case when you're looking for a long absence. Often at the start, you leave your family and friends on the dock. The illness, the death of a loved one often forces to change the route, to limit the distance to stay"close". Everyone has their reasons, they are always good.

Especially since in the case of Jean-Pierre Fréry, this is not a renunciation. He explains:"I have thought hard and my sense of responsibility requires me to stay ashore this year. It is not an easy decision, with a few weeks to go. In the immediate future, I will take over the handle of my company and more particularly of the Catamarans and Custom divisions. However, my project is not cancelled: Cavok is ready to leave and will remain so. I've been thinking about this non-stop round the world trip in a production catamaran for twenty years... I'm not going to let go of this challenge!" Just postpone him for a year..
