Continue an activity despite the crisis
Astondoa is a century-old construction site, now run by the 3rd generation of the family and financed by equity capital. In 2008, the Spanish shipyard suffered greatly from the crisis and decided to stop the production of its boats to keep its employees with it. He then diversified his activity by launching into refitting. This refocusing of activity has enabled it to maintain its activity, but above all its know-how, namely the construction of large yachts.
However, after the crisis, Astondoa, which had already manufactured small units at the time, wanted to reach a new market in order to gain new market share by reaching out to existing customers.
Launch a new range
To do this, the yard launched a new Coupé range, with a first model built at its Santa Pola yard in the province of Alicante. The Astondoa 655 Coupe - a 62-foot model - was launched in the fall of 2016 in Fort Lauderdale. The first in its class with an inverted bow.
A sporty and modern dayboat
A second model has just joined the Coupé range, the 377, a sporty, modern and original 11.61 m dayboat.
"The idea is to offer a day boat, rather for the Mediterranean with a large cockpit lounge, but also 2 cabins for a night on board for 4 people" explains Emmanuel Skaf, reseller of the brand through Yacht Consultant.
Like its big brother, the 377 Coupe has a distinctive inverted bow, a walk-around deck layout - on the same level as this model - and two beautiful sunbathing areas at the front and rear.
This dayboat has a highly crafted design, with wave-shaped wooden gunwales, a pillarless windscreen, large profiled hull glazing and a refined, high-quality layout. The beautiful height of the freeboard secures the movement all around the boat, from the bow to the beautiful aft swimming platform.
"Astondoa wanted to create a boat that was out of the ordinary, but as complete as possible in terms of program. Customers want dayboats with cabins, but they don't necessarily use them." adds Emmanuel Skaf.
There is every comfort for a weekend at sea with a saloon in the cockpit, an outside galley, a spacious cockpit with three pilot and co-pilot seats and a large cabin with a beautiful height under the beam with a double bed in the front and two single beds in the rear. A bathroom with separate shower completes all the interior fittings.
The 377 Coupe is therefore the perfect fast and aesthetic dayboat, but can also be used as a tender or chaseboat. "Today, large shipyards are launching small units to move customers up the range, but also to create tenders for their own yachts" concludes Emmanuel Skaf.
On the motorization side, three options are available.
