Northman 1200, a pure trawler for offshore cruising

The Polish shipyard Northman, distributed in France by Catway, is launching the Northman 1200, a 35-foot trawler that takes up the idea of sailing as well as motor sailing. Low consumption, low engine power, low speed and great comfort on board are the characteristics of this cabin-cruiser.

After the Nexus 870 Revo, the Polish shipyard Northman - distributed in France by Catway - presents the Northman 1200, a 12.26 m long trawler (only 10.94 m hull length). This "pure" trawler has been designed for offshore sailing with all the necessary comfort on board: 3 double cabins, 2 bathrooms, equipped kitchen, sunbathing... It will also be possible to opt for an owner's version with 2 large double cabins. Bright - with her large saloon windows and fully glazed sliding cockpit doors, the Northman also has a nice headroom of 1.98 m.

Like its little "brother", its leitmotiv is cruising as if on board a sailing boat: autonomy, habitability and very reduced consumption. With 110 HP Yanmar, the Northman 1200 reaches a speed of 8 to 10 knots. Other engine options are available, such as 2x110 HP and, in the future, 250 HP.

"It's a real niche market. Even if it takes up the concept of the Nexus - which was a mini-niche market, aimed more at river cruising - the Northman 1200 is a real trawler, very livable, with a very good price-quality ratio and which assumes its trawler aspect. It's a boat to go slowly, with few engines and low fuel consumption." explains Jean-Baptiste Bittard, exclusive distributor of Maxus sailboats and Northman trawlers.

This Nordic unit has fairly straight lines, especially at the stern, with a superstructure that gives into the cockpit, very vertical. Its displacement hull should ensure stability, as should its long keel, in addition to protecting the propeller and rudder. Handrails on the roof and wide catwalks, well protected by high stanchions, ensure safe passage on board.

The particularity of the Northman 1200 is its large asymmetrical windshield with access to the roof where there is a very large sunbathing area. The shipyard is already working on the addition of a real flybridge. With these steps to port on the bow, no stairs in the cockpit and no discomfort between inside and outside.

At the stern, a large bathing platform (hydraulic afterwards) ensures easy access to the water and allows you to enjoy additional outdoor space.

This semi-custom model will be very well equipped with a bow thruster, hot water, plotter... and is offered at the price of 179?270 euros HT since its launch in Poland in August 2018.
