MM725, an elegant avant-garde sloop

The MM725

The British studio Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design has just unveiled its latest design, a splendid 72.5 m long sailing superyacht that incorporates many innovative technologies such as a flybridge almost integrated into the deck or tilting bulwarks.

Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design has been one of the world's leading superyacht designers for over 30 years. The studio has already worked on more than 200 sailing and motor yachts, 50 of which are more than 30 metres long. He has been rewarded several times for his design work on the distribution of spaces, the exterior style and the construction of these splendid boats.

His latest project is the MM725, an elegant 72.5 m long superyacht sailing yacht, whose design is far from what we know today. This sloop is a real engineering work with the addition of a flybridge that fits perfectly into the elegant and slender lines of the sailboat.

"The key to the design was to ensure that the living room had enough natural light. To do this, the flybridge is located further aft than usual and extends above the cockpit with curved glass on the front of the superstructure that provides the necessary light in the living room explains the designer.

Another notable feature is the bulwarks that unfold on either side of the cockpit to create large balconies on the water and optimize the boat's operating area at anchor. The bulwarks of the bathing platform tilt in the same way, which considerably increases the size of the beach club, which can be accessed directly from the owner's suite, located at the back. The space benefits from 5 very large windows inscribed on the entire height of the hull.

On the foredeck, the 8.5 m storage space for the tender is transformed into a small swimming pool, with a deck saloon at the stern. A Bedouin awning provides shade as an option.

Other innovations include a spinnaker swallower system, hidden under the deck, to facilitate manoeuvring. To improve performance, the designer chose a mainsail with horn and a lifting keel.
