The Nimbus T11, the "perfect" dayboat for relaxation and fun

The Nimbus T11

After the 9 Series, the Swedish shipyard Nimbus has just unveiled the first model of its 11 Series, the Tender 11. This 12.40 m long walkaround is contemporary and perfectly equipped to spend a good time at sea and even several nights thanks to its two double cabins. Comfort and space are the key words of this new model.

A dayboat to relax and have fun

After Series 9, Nimbus is now offering its 3 new models (Tender, Weekender and Commuter) on Series 11. The first model launched in January 2019 is the T11, a dayboat with a 12.40 m long walkaround bridge.

Designed as a real relaxation platform for moments with family or friends, there is a large saloon on board with modular benches, plenty of sunbathing, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, a very large storage compartment for nautical equipment and toys as well as a large deck area for easy mobility. As an option, a gyroscopic stabilizer (anti-roll device) can also be chosen.

This model with its contemporary Scandinavian design has enough seats to accommodate 12 people on board, around a table or in the various living spaces.

"We have seen a new trend in the use of boats, over shorter periods of time. Often people go out for a day or a weekend with a night on board. The idea is to relax and have a good time with family or friends. The new T11 is designed to fully meet its needs. It offers multiple living areas to talk, relax or do activities. Four people can spend the night on board in two double cabins and the boat has many features to live comfortably at sea" explains Jonas Göthberg, Sales Director of Nimbus Boats Sweden AB.

Solar panels, such as the T-Top, are optional

Providing all the comfort at sea

To design this boat, the design office looked at the essential elements to have on board to have a good time at sea: large modular living spaces, plenty of space to move, good sun protection (with an optional T-Top that covers a large part of the boat) and several places to relax, lie down or sit. There are also several refrigerators to store food and drinks, an outdoor kitchen complete with barbecue, a large swimming platform that can accommodate several people at the same time and finally, a large storage space easily accessible for toys.

"In the design and development process, we have deliberately emphasized "simplicity" and "easy living": getting on and off, loading, travelling, staying on board and taking ownership of it, all with ease. When things are easy, we just feel more relaxed and can focus on sailing." explains Mats Jacobsson, Technical Director of Nimbus.

Many living spaces

The shipyard has tried to make the T11 a spacious boat and it has been successful. You can move smoothly from the back to the front via the large gangways, around the boat. There are many living spaces, but always with the possibility of easy circulation.

The central space of the boat is in the cockpit: the lounge area. This large square is spacious, but above all modular. You can choose between a huge sunbathing area by unfolding the backrest of the rear bench seat to the front, a U-shaped bench seat or a facing bench seat. The sofas swivel and move easily thanks to the handles. On the rear, a large storage box covered with a cushion offers a storage capacity of 2?500 litres and has a hydraulic opening mechanism. Easily accessible and ideally placed, it can be used to store nautical equipment (SUP, wakeboard, and even a tyre.)

Behind the saloon, the outdoor kitchen includes storage for cutlery and dishes, a sink with hot water and a space for a gas stove or electric grill, as well as two refrigerators.

The helm station is typical of Nimbus with many storage spaces and enough space to accommodate 3 pilot/copilot seats, all facing forward. Under the deck, there are two separate cabins with two double berths and a spacious bathroom with toilet and shower.

The foredeck receives a huge sunbathing area and a large sofa with a hood that opens to the forward cabin. This allows the cabin to be ventilated and provides light inside and for children, a superb area of jeu?!

On the rear, the bathing platform is rather large with two important returns around the engines. The boat is equipped as standard with two 300 HP Mercury Verado V8 outboard engines with a speed range of 20 to 40 knots. For those who want to go even faster, the T11 can be equipped with three 300 HP Mercury Verado V8 engines which, according to estimates, would allow the boat to reach 50 knots. The T11 can also be equipped with inboard motors.

The T11 receives a new double step hull which should give the boat high speed characteristics and fast lift-off. The bow is very thin to split the waves. Its tulip system deflects the spray for good protection.

New models for Nimbus

To replace its Nova range - family boats with a semi-displacement hull motorized in a shaft line - the Swedish Nimbus has launched the Series 9 and 11 with 3 models, available in outboard or inboard:

  • Tender Mediterranean "fun & sport" boat designed like a RIB, but with more comfort (cabins, toilets), allowing you to spend a night on board.
  • Weekender A little like the tender, but with even more comfort and living space for the crew
  • Switch over Helmsman: Helmsman that can be used all year round.

These models share the same hull (9.35 m for the 9 Series and 12.40 m for the 11 Series), but with a different deck layout depending on the owners' needs. Unlike the Nova series boats, which are mainly intended for the Scandinavian market, the Tender series is aimed at a wider range of boaters such as those from Southern Europe, Oceania and the United States.
