Caronte, the superyacht inspired by 17th century pirate ships

Because we love yacht designs ñ some more than others ñ we present the Caronte, a 200-foot superyacht inspired by the pirate ships that scoured the seas in the 17th century. If the idea is funny, not sure if this bold concept will come to fruition. The architecture raises some doubts about feasibility

Caronte is a concept - let's say bold - of a 200-foot superyacht, proposed by the Italian studio Lazzarini Design. This same studio to whom we owe the Jet Capsule a mini-yacht all in roundness with a bumper car look.

With this new design, Lazzarini revisits the concept of the 17th century pirate ship with a superstructure that rises 6 m above the waterline. In other words, a fortress imprenable?! This architecture makes it possible to create a large interior volume to integrate a garage capable of accommodating two luxury cars. In addition to hosting supercars, the garage walls expand to form balconies on the water.

On the main deck, there is a 4.5 m swimming pool, a heliport and a sports hall hidden in the forepeak. Speaking of the forward point, we will notice this strange advance, a kind of dolphinière.

On board, there is also a reception room with a dining room for 10 people, three double cabins, a large lounge and a large wheelhouse at the end of the superstructure. This arrangement is supposed to be reminiscent of the former pirate ships, where the captain's command post was located at a height.

The feasibility of such a design can be perplexing, as can the concept, which is much talked about on the web, such as this commentary:"It really seems like it was designed by someone whose experience in boating is limited to playing with plastic ducks in a bathtub. This monster will be a real horror at sea, even in moderate winds, and impossible to maneuver in a marina." But after all, original concepts are born every day and some are even born, like the Sailing Yacht A admired or hated.
