Sea sickness of the child, like managing it?

If despite precautions and medication, your child still gets seasick, here are our tips to help him/her through this unpleasant time.

Don't let seasickness set in

If your child is prone to seasickness, go out to sea in the cockpit.

First, calm your child down, especially the little ones who don't know what's happening to them. Explain to them that they are seasick, that they are transient and to what it is due. If he starts to be "embarrassed", take him directly to the deck, dressing him warmly so that he can look at the horizon. Try to keep him busy so he doesn't think about the fact that he's sick. Sometimes you can manage to get seasickness through quickly.

If seasickness sets in

Sit with them in a cabin and cuddle them so that they can fall asleep (while keeping an eye on them) if the navigation that awaits you is long. That's what will be easiest for them.

Make sure they hydrate well - you can also try coca cola without a bubble for sugar, which will prevent discomfort - by drinking plenty of water or herbal tea. Try to make them eat something light such as a banana, apple or compote.

If the seasickness is too strong and increased tenfold by being locked on board, take your child outside. Make sure he has his life jacket and is dressed warmly. We tend to cool down when we are sick and do not move.

Tie him with a lanyard (to prevent him from slipping into the back of the cockpit or between the spinners to vomit) and leave him a bucket at his disposal. Sometimes, the child is so sick that he or she becomes unable to move and has a dead weight that is very difficult to handle.

Therefore, choose a place where there is not necessarily a need to move it according to the manoeuvres. Otherwise, if he is able to move, sit him down on the cockpit benches, with his eyes fixed on the horizon.

If talking to him when he gets seasick slowly is a trick, it is best to let him manage himself while watching him. It's hard enough for him to try to "maintain" himself.

The return to land

The return to shore is salvateur?! As soon as he gets ashore, he will quickly forget that he was sick. And rest assured, this will not prevent him from setting sail again at the next fois?!
