VQ40, outboard version and step hull for more speed

The VQ40 in outboard version

The Dutch manufacturer Vanquish Yachts has just revealed its 8th model, the VQ40, a luxurious 12.15 m dayboat. This new design by Guido de Groot will be built in composite, unlike the 45-foot models, all built in aluminium. Another new feature will also be the first model offered with outboard motors.

The Dutch manufacturer Vanquish Yachts will present its 8 e model, the VQ40. This 40-foot (12.15 m) dayboat is in a way the smallest model in the "yachting" range since the VQ32 Custom Tender is a tender, as its name suggests. Nevertheless, it takes over the development of the latter's open bridge.

Unlike the larger models (45 to 54 feet) built in aluminum, the VQ40 is made of composite, built using the infusion technique. A manufacturing method that will allow for faster construction, but also a more affordable price. The site has also benefited from the experience gained from the construction of the water scooter VQ16 .

This design by Guido de Groot reflects the clean and sporty lines of the range as well as the inverted bow characteristic of the models. Its exterior design immediately recalls the brand's style. Its stepped hull was developed by New Zealand's Bakewell-White Yacht Design, a specialist in high-performance hulls. On the program, acceleration, maneuverability and very good passage at sea.

"With its stepped hull, the VQ40 should improve its performance and reach a speed of 55 knots", explains Tijl Hetterschijt, Director of Business Development.

A wide choice of engines

To satisfy the greatest number of customers, Vanquish offers several types of inboard and outboard engines, a first. In the standard inboard version, the VQ40 receives two 320 hp Volvo D4 diesel engines for a maximum speed of 40 knots. As an option, it is possible to choose 2 Volvo D6s with 440 hp and a maximum speed of 46 knots.

In the outboard version, the power of the Mercury Verado ranges from 2x225 HP (35 knots speed) to 3x350 HP (51 knots). Finally, 4 400 HP engines allow you to reach a speed of more than 54 knots.

"We chose outboard propulsion for several reasons. First, for the enormous power. We could never have had 1200 HP in inboard on this boat size. Second, there is an increase in demand for outboards. Of the 5 boats already sold, we have 4 outboards (2 in the United States and 2 in Europe) and 1 inboard (Europe)" explains Tijl Hetterschijt.

Comfort and relaxation

There is plenty of space on board and traffic is easy thanks to the walkaround deck layout. In total, the VQ40 can accommodate up to 14 people. There is a V-shaped square at the front, with a bench seat next to the console.

The steering station is designed for 3 people: one pilot and two passengers and is protected by a transparent T-Top. At the back is the kitchen area with electric grill, worktop, sink with hot and cold water, wine cellar/refrigerator and storage space.

Under the deck, there is a forward cabin with a double bed and a bathroom with shower or large storage space. At the rear, the VQ40 receives a huge sunbathing area facing out to sea, overlooking a beautiful swimming beach. On the cockpit side, a large bench seat is located in the centre.

The price of the VQ40 starts at 392?000 euros HT for a standard boat with 2 Volvo inboard 320 HP diesel engines.
