For the past 14 years, the World Superyacht Awards have recognized the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the world's most outstanding luxury yachts launched in the previous year. In 2019, there were a record 58 nominees, spread across the competition's 16 categories. The big winners were the sensational 90-meter-long motoryacht DAR and the 106.7-meter-long eco-friendly sailing superyacht Black Pearl, each of which won two awards.
The jury was made up of current and former superyacht owners and evaluated each yacht on a variety of criteria, including design, technical features, functionality and aesthetics.
Here is the list of winners:
Motor Superyacht of the Year: DAR (Oceanco)
Judges praised the sculptural lines and exterior design that gives it a shark-like look. The interior was beautifully appointed with a bright, fresh décor that combines ocean themes with light woods, rich fabrics and luxurious leathers. The overall ambiance: is pure peace and harmony.
The judges particularly appreciated the bridge cascade that spills into the pool.
Sailing Superyacht of the Year: Black Pearl (Oceanco)
The judges noted her practicality, size and comfort - but also her economical operation and efficiency. A revolutionary technical configuration allows her to cross oceans without using a drop of fuel - a feature never before seen on yachts of this size.
