Otam 85 GTS, a 26 m custom superyacht designed as a dayboat

Otam 85 GTS

During the next Cannes Yachting Festival (10 to 15 September 2019), the Italian shipyard OTAM - specialising in the custom construction of high-performance luxury aluminium motoryachts - will launch the OTAM 85 GTS. This semi-open yacht of nearly 26 m in length has been designed as a comfortable dayboat by its owner.

The latest in the "Custom" range is a fully custom 25.85 m semi-open speedboat. The French architect Joseph Dirand designed the boat's exterior style, interior and exterior designs as well as the interior layout.

This project was born from the launch of the Otam 80 in 2017 at the same Cannes show. The yacht had attracted a lot of interest with its performance and its second main suite installed across the entire width of the boat and located in the centre of the yacht. Many customers had then announced their interest in an open or semi-open version.

The Otam 80

This is how the Italian shipyard in Liguria started its research work on the Otam 85 GTS.

The latter will be powered by a pair of 2600 hp MTU engines from the surface propellers (Arneson) for a maximum speed of 45 knots and a cruise speed of 35 knots. Impressive speeds for a boat of nearly 26 m and 67 tons under load.

Outside, there are large areas of conviviality and relaxation. A request from the future owner who designed his boat as a dayboat for his summer stays.

The huge hard-top is made of composite materials and will house the large semi-open bridge, even at over 45 knots. At the owner's request, it integrates the air intakes of the engines, protects the kitchen areas (grill) for outdoor meals and cleverly conceals the roof opening mechanisms.

Inside, there are two large parental suites - each with its own bathroom - at the front and centre of the boat. They are installed over the entire width of the boat (6 m). There is also a kitchen and a living room/dining room facing each other as well as a second bathroom.

The crew quarters are located at the front and accessible independently of private areas.
