This new VHF fixed Navicom is really sexy. Indeed, its color touch screen makes its effect. There are icons just like what we know about on our mobile phones. The gesture of sweeping moves from one screen to another. It's simple and intuitive.
The VHF RT 1050 is available in 2 versions: A fixed VHF DSC version and a version that also includes an AIS receiver. The VHF remains above all a safety device. It is mandatory as soon as you move more than 6 miles from the coast. On the RT 1050 the VHF functions (access to safety channel 16, volume, distress call...) are accessible via dedicated keys.
But the 4.3-inch (11 cm) diagonal colour touch screen also provides access to many possibilities. In reality, this is a real screen that can display all the information circulating on the NMEA 2000 network. Indeed, this RT 1050 connects with this network. Thus the screen will be able to display all the information coming from the engine (speed, temperature, consumption...) or from the navigation system (wind speed and direction, depth...).
In its AIS version, the VHF integrates an AIS receiver and an antenna splitter. The screen then displays the ships' targets and the possibility of using a collision alarm (TCPA and CPA). AIS information is also transmitted over the NMEA 2000 network for use by other devices.
Waterproof in front (IPX7), with a remote microphone, the VHF RT 1050 will also be in its place on a console of a semi-rigid or an open hull, as well as at the chart table of a sailboat.
