Bénéteau launches the Swift Trawler 41, a new model in its range dedicated to long-distance travel. Designed to replace the ST 44, it incorporates all the features and innovations of the new generation, which began with the launch of the ST 47 in 2018.

In the tradition of Swift Trawler 47

In the wake of the renewal of the range, begun with the Swift Trawler 47 in 2018, Bénéteau launched the Swift Trawler 41 a new 13.30-metre long and 4.20-metre wide travel star. This latest addition to the previous range of 5 models is the worthy replacement for the Swift Trawler 44 launched in 2011.

While it retains the dimensions of its predecessor - 13.88 m in overall length and 4.25 m wide - the design of this mid-range family trawler has been completely redesigned.

Two roof configurations

The Swift Trawler 41 takes the technical innovations and improvements discovered on the 47-foot model, but pushes the concept further. Outside, the Vendée design office worked on two versions: a sedan version that will be more suitable for sailing on inland waters and in the Nordic countries and a fly version for outdoor sailing.

Although it is currently the only model currently developed in a sedan version, this roof configuration is not a new feature for Bénéteau, which until 2014 offered the Swift Trawler 34S in its catalogue.

More affordable in terms of budget, the sedan version has the advantage of offering additional storage space. The roof can accommodate various equipment such as kayaks, paddles or bicycles. A configuration that therefore lends itself well to long family trips. Finally, two roof openings on the sedan version bring even more light to the square.

A compact design

The layout is inspired by the ST 47, but in a more compact design. Thus, there are several innovations on board. Starting with the galley, now located aft on the port side. Installed there, it allows indoor/outdoor use in direct connection with the cockpit and bathing deck thanks to the opening of the sliding glass window and the folding bar shelf.

This new configuration made it possible to free up space in the saloon and install a new steering bench. Thus, the latter can rotate to take place around the square table and transform the dining area into a friendly place for 8 people. This modularity saves space on the main deck and makes it easier to move around on board. For more privacy, a curtain completely surrounds the double bed in the living room.

As on the other models, we find the starboard helm station with its large wheel steering and side door on the starboard front deck.

A third cabin

Under the deck, the big new feature is this 3rd cabin on starboard. It can be used as a single bed with storage - including shelves and a chest under the bed - or as an additional storage room, including space for a washing machine/dryer.

At the bow, there is the owner's cabin with a double bed, two separate bathrooms: sink and toilet on the port side, and a shower on the starboard side. Finally, on the port side, the guest cabin has a double berth, which can be adjusted to a twin or double bed. In total, 7 people can sleep aboard this 40-foot trawler.

Modular cockpit

Outside, the cockpit is modular with a rear bench seat installed on a sliding rail, which can be moved back on the bath platform to install a dining table.

Autonomy for a family cruise

Its thin, tulip-shaped hull was inspired by research on the Swift Trawler 47, and specially designed to optimise the behaviour and performance of the two versions, Fly or Sedan. In terms of consumption, the Vendée shipyard reports a consumption of 5 litres per mile, from 10 to 23 knots.

With two choices of Volvo engines of 2 x 270 HP or 2 x 300 HP, the Swift Trawler 41 will have a top speed of 23 knots. The tanks have been designed for long cruises in autonomy with a fuel tank of 1200 L and water tank of 400 L. At 16 knots of cruising speed, this trawler offers 180 miles of range.
