Sophie buys Rêvuha, a 1983 Sun Shine 36 from the Jeanneau shipyard, which was extended in 2006 to 38. After years of sailing aboard, she discovered a crack on her keel.

Sophie bought Rêvuha (a dream mix and Joshua, Moitessier's sailboat) in 2006 in Mortagne sur Gironde (17). At the base it is to see another sailboat that the yachtswoman goes there, when she comes across this Sun Shine 36 transformed into a 38 with her skirt attached. 50?000 euros later, the purchase is completed and Sophie finally owns her first boat, in good condition and ready to sail.

The sailing virus, she caught it when she was a little girl. At 4 years old, she was introduced to the sea by a father who was passionate about sailing and old rigging. Until 1994/1995, she was a frequent coastal sailor in Brittany.

Life goes on and taken by her job as a branch manager in industrial cleaning, she stops sailing for a long time. Until one day, one morning, while she was in a period of transition, Sophie woke up from a "crazy" dream: she had to buy a boat.

The choice of the boat

For the purchase of her boat, she lists the essentials. Because this sailboat will be her home, but also perhaps the boat on which she will set off on a long journey:

- the right size to live on board and sail

- Sufficient comfort

Finally, the Sun Shine fully meets his needs. "She's a cruise ship, but also a very seaworthy one. We can have different programs: coastal, mid-shore, even offshore. It is hard on the web, works well in all speeds, has a good reputation and met my budget. Finally, even if my heart was towards the wood, I didn't want to spend my time maintaining it. So I needed a plastic boat."

A vital need

Despite her energetic work, Sophie has never forgotten the sea. In a context of life change, it needs to rebuild itself, to find the sea, the elements, salt and sea spray. "It's vital to me."

Return to Brittany

Sophie convoyed Rêvuha from Charente-Maritime to Douarnenez, where she settled in Port Rhu for three months. She then decides to leave for Port La Foret, but does not get a permanent location. For two years, it oscillated between Douarnenez, Port La Forêt and Sainte-Marine, before obtaining a place at the multi pontoon in Port Laf'.

Finally, no long trip to the program. For twelve years, Sophie spent her weekends on the Glénan islands and her holidays sailing along the Breton coast, from Groix to Belle-Île, from Morbihan to Finistère. In her nav', she is accompanied by her faithful Diwan, an 11-year-old Border Collie, who has also caught the sailing virus

"I took advantage of these years to repay the credit of my boat and gradually equip it for the trip."

The beginning of the problems

After the purchase, she discovers that her Sun Shine 36 has undergone a curative osmosis treatment. However, the humidity level is bad and the hull is wet. In 2008, she knew that one day she would have to take her boat out of the water to dry the hull and apply an epoxy treatment.

With each fairing, it monitors the condition of its hull. " As long as it was wet, there was nothing bad about it. Until the summer of 2018, when I pulled the boat out of the water, I discovered blisters."

A revealing exposure

At the same time, it was a new change of life for Sophie. After 20 years in her work, she decided to devote herself to other projects. And since she has time for herself now, she decides to redo Rêvuha.

She stripped the hull of her boat to bare so she could dry it and restrain it, but then made a discovery that changed the situation. Cracks are visible on the bottom of the hull

"Morally, it's the tile."

But nothing stops Sophie who then decides to give a new life to her boat, now 36 years old.
