B&G V60, a VHF that integrates an AIS transceiver

The VHF B&G V60-B is the first VHF on the market to integrate an AIS transponder. This model heralds a new generation of fixed stations that reduce the number of aircraft on board and work for safety at sea.

So far, there are VHF receivers on the market that incorporate an AIS receiver. These devices can "only" receive AIS signals, but cannot transmit their position or heading to other AIS. B&G's new V60-B model now has both functions: AIS transmitter and receiver.

We had already presented you the VHF V60 at the end of 2018 ...a model that could pick up AIS signals. Now in its B version (and at a much higher price...), the V60-B VHF is a DSC Class D approved VHF radio. The built-in Class B AIS transceiver allows you to see and be seen.

On its screen will display the AIS targets received, while the information from your boat will be transmitted immediately. This VHF has a GPS receiver built into the front of the radio, but it is possible to connect another one (SMA connector) for an external antenna.

The V60-B also connects to the NMEA network (183 and 2000) to share information with a display, a plotter or even a computer. The remote (wired) microphone can be connected to the front or rear panel of the VHF. A wired extension cord is also available if you want to install the microphone away from the display.

Like its little sister, the V60-B is compatible with the H60 wireless handset which allows you to communicate in VHF from any station on the boat, but also can be used as an intercom between several handsets (very useful on large yachts).

The B&G V60-B VHF is available in the network.
