Amels 60, a recognizable and optimized design for this new superyacht

The Amels 60

The Dutch shipyard Amels Yachts has just revealed the images of the Amels 60, a 60 m long superyacht with a design by Espen Øino. Optimized hull shape, hybrid technology, illusion of an infinite space are the characteristics of this new model, which will be delivered in spring 2022.

A recognizable design

The Amels 60 is the new model in the Limited Edition range designed by designer Espen Øino. This superyacht with a 60 m long hybrid propulsion system is currently under construction at the Dutch yard and will be delivered in spring 2022. He signed the shipbuilder's second collaboration with the Norwegian designer based in Monaco, after the 78-metre Amels Full Custom, currently under construction and delivered in 2021.

"Its design is immediately recognizable." says its designer. Indeed, its white superstructure interspersed with black glazing or its four triangular-shaped hull glazing are characteristic of this model.

Its very elongated structure offers large deck areas, including a huge solarium. This was made possible thanks to a new hull shape developed with the research laboratory of the Damen shipyard, the parent company. The length at the waterline is optimized, which increases the length/maitre-bau ratio (10.40 m).

This new displacement hull shape also optimizes fuel consumption. This highly efficient hull shape, combined with hybrid propulsion, provides a cruising speed of up to 7 knots with electric propulsion engines. As a result, noise and vibration levels are very low and fuel and maintenance costs are reduced, as are emissions. The Amels 60 offers a range of 4500 miles at an economical cruising speed of 13 knots, with a selective catalytic reduction system.

An infinite space

Inside, the interior design is signed by Studio Indigo. The idea is to maximize the perception of space and fluidity, so the perspectives are different, between spaces to make them larger, lighter and brighter. The owner's cabin has large deployable balconies to extend the living space.

Chic and contemporary interiors use a wide variety of fabrics and textures, allowing customers to experience different atmospheres. "We have the illusion of an infinite space" explains the designer.

Outside, the living spaces have been designed to offer the greatest comfort with a jacuzzi, a helicopter runway, a large front deck used as a tender garage, a very large swimming platform, open to a fitness room/spa area. On board, there are 6 luxurious suites to accommodate up to 12 guests and 12 crew members plus a captain.
