Fata Morgana, a superyacht concept designed to sail in the polar regions

George Lucian is a Monaco-based designer who likes to try his hand at designing extraordinary superyachts. After "Dare To Dream", a superyacht airship carrier, or the Origami Sailing Yacht, a sailboat design inspired by the art of folding paper, he unveils the MY Fata Morgana, designed to take advantage of climate change.

Designer George Lucian specializes in the concept of the unthinkable superyacht. In these projects, no traditional forms or technical studies to validate the possibility of implementing a concept. For sure, these concepts will never go beyond the stage of the paperbone. But, it is always pleasant to see the creativity of designers.

After a MY capable of transporting dirigible balloons the Dare To Dream euros or a sailboat inspired by the art of origami and traditional Asian boats this is the MY Fontana.

This strange concept of a 70 m superyacht has been designed to "take advantage" of climate change. "This project aims to raise public awareness of the irreversible changes that are occurring in Arctic regions." explains its designer.

The MY Fata Morgana is a polar class super exploration yacht specifically designed to sail and charter in the Arctic regions, including the Northwest Passage, where it is much easier to navigate due to climate change and melting ice.

It was designed to fit perfectly into the Arctic landscape, as its designer explains: "The bow looks like a rock formation partially covered with snow and the stern has a glass structure that looks like an iceberg." . " From a distance, he adds, one might think it was an island, a kind of mirage, as its name suggests."

Fata Morgana is an optical phenomenon that results from a combination of mirages, which occurs especially in the polar regions.

The glass structure of the yacht hosts the living area and VIP suites offering a breathtaking view of the sky and surroundings, a feeling of being outside while being inside. The rest of the yacht has all the features of a super yacht of this size, accommodating up to 12 guests and 18 crew members, an outdoor pool, a telescope/observatory located on the upper deck and a helipad.

It offers a range of 7,000 nm and can also navigate with the help of a kite for smoother long trips. "Everything on board is designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, with the least amount of emissions and waste ".

The boat will also be used for a research purpose on the ocean . "It will be equipped with devices to continuously monitor the temperature and composition of the ocean and will continuously transmit it to relevant international organizations."
